Vale Do Lobo, situated 12 mls W of Faro and its airport (Almansil 3 mls) lies amongst low-lying hills between Quarteira and Quinta do Lago. The Algarve is famed for its array of wonderful golf courses and sporting clubs and Vale Do Lobo is amongst the best of them. It has no less than four 18 hole golf courses: the Four Seasons Fairways and Country clubs are within the development and offer discounts on golf, tennis and squash. There are indoor and outdoor pools as well as many interesting restaurants and bars.
This resort caters for more upmarket clientele, no exceptions. Also great for sport lovers, particularly golfers.
The whole area is mainly de luxe and luxury villas with their own pools. A small selection of apartments. One each of 4- and 5-star hotels.
The main beach in Vale do Lobo, is long, sandy and narrow in parts, with direct access to Faro Beach. Water sports of every kind and general facilities, eg beds, restaurants, bars etc, are plentiful. Between Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago are a number of beaches, all of which have, at the very least, bars or restaurants.
There is a small selection of expensive souvenir and clothes shops in the square. At the main entrance there is a large supermarket. In Almancil, there is a fortnightly gypsy market.
